Going through a divorce is one of the most unpleasant things a person can go through in life. And all too often, the first thing you will be asked by a lawyer is for a hefty retainer fee of thousands of dollars. It doesn’t matter if your community assets are less than that.
I refuse to treat my clients with such disregard. Instead of asking for an arbitrary retainer fee, I try to evaluate each case to provide you with affordable solutions to finalize your divorce. Not only do I try to save you money, but save you aggravation. To accomplish this, I try to see if I can get both husband and wife to agree to the terms of a divorce. If both parties agree, it is called an uncontested divorce and the legal costs are generally minimal.
If both parties cannot agree to the terms of a divorce, I try to push your case forward without a large retainer fee. Depending on your circumstances, I can file the paperwork on your behalf while you act as your own attorney in court; this is called pro se. A lot of times, clients are able to do a better job representing their interests in court than an attorney since they are more intimately acquainted with their situation. If you would like to represent your own divorce case, I can still help you file paperwork and provide you with advice on how to conduct yourself in court.
For over 20 years, I have been helping Albuquerqueans successfully navigate through their legal problems. As an Albuquerque, NM divorce lawyer, I understand the delicate nature of many divorce cases and am prepared to protect your best interests, or show you how to represent your own best interests. No matter how complex or simple your divorce is, I am confident that I can provide you with affordable legal representation.
